OUR PASSION
The Croci family has always
transmitted passion for the soil from
generation to generation.
The winery is in Castell’Arquato on the hills of the
famous Italian DOC wine Monterosso; it is at 250 mt
height on the “Pianura piacentina”.
The
favourable position of sun rays together with the
characteristics of the “terroir” have provided the
production of very special wines.
Ermanno Croci had the first perception that this soil
could give good wine. So during 1960s he began to
produce wine and in 1980s he bottled wine with his own
trade name. Nowadays his son Massimiliano has inherited
experience and tradition and has become responsible of
the winery.
OUR
TRADITION
Since the beginning the Croci winery has become involved
with raising its terroir with love, respecting nature
and this is the reason why it decided to submit the
organic fight to limit the use of chemicals. This
selection in production was done to respect the
biological cycles and to safeguard both the environment
and the health of the customers.
The breeding of our vineyard is Guyot like with some
local variations. The pruning is made in February and it
is meant to improve quality though sometimes it reduces
yield.
As soon as grapes have come to a complete maturation
they are picked in boxes by hand to avoid undesirable
oxidation and fermentation. After harvest grapes are
immediately and softly crushed. This procedures will
give birth to fruity and backbone wines.
The Croci winery is a member of the “Consorzio per la
tutela e la denominazione di Origine Controllata Colli
Piacentini” founded in 1986 to value the wine production
of the area and to guaranty quality. |
